SABINE MEYER

Sabine Meyer • Guest Instructor, Director of Photograph for the National Audubon Society. Photo/Luke Franke, Audubon

Sabine is Photography Director at the National Audubon Society, where she oversees all photography initiatives amplifying the conservation mission of the organization.

She spent decades working for US-based consumer magazines and a roster of international clients in the non-profit and academic worlds, including National Geographic Adventure, Condé Nast Traveler, New York magazine, TIME, and U.N. Population Fund.

She has been on the faculty at the School of the International Center of Photography in New York since the early 2000s – teaching photo editing and conservation storytelling to students enrolled in the school’s documentary practice and visual journalism program.

For almost a decade, she co-founded and co-directed Fovea Exhibitions, a non-profit photography gallery located in Beacon, NY.

Fovea's mission was to foster visual literacy and local community engagement via photojournalism works focusing on current events.

She mentors and reviews photo portfolios regularly and has recently volunteered for Women Photograph and Vital Impacts.

MORGAN “MO” HEIM

Morgan Heim • Workshop Founder, National Geographic Explorer. Photo/Aly Nicklas

I am a National Geographic Explorer, Senior Fellow, and the Interim Director of the International League of Conservation Photographers. A two-time Osher Fellow and founder of Neon Raven Story Labs, my favorite stories explore the intersection of humans and wildlife and how we can become better stewards of the planet. One of my favorite achievements was creating the film Reindalen, which won the Conservation Short-form category at the Jackson Wild Media Awards in 2025. But really the best part was hiking across the Svalbard tundra with the funnest scientists and smallest, fat reindeer you could ever hope to meet.

I am a multi-year recipient in Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Big Picture and Siena International Photography Award, as well as a past judge for MontPhoto, Mangrove Photography Awards, NANPA Showcase and Audubon Photo Awards! You can find my work in National Geographic Magazine, Audubon, Smithsonian and The New York Times.

Sabine Meyer and I celebrating the recognition of our story “The Final Owls,” at Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2023. The story was awarded runner-up in the conservation photography storytelling category. Sabine was both my editor on the magazine story and my entry into the competion. Since this achievement, the story has traveled the world and been viewed by millions.
